The pilot will learn the basic operations of the GNS 430/530 for IFR use. We review the basic functions of the GNS 430/530, with an emphasis on IFR terminal and enroute procedures. We will cover basic GPS principals and the requirements for the use of GPS in the IFR environment, imputing flight plans, departures/arrivals, and approach procedures. The “Buttonology” of the Garmin will be stressed and practiced. The student will be ready to fly GPS approaches and use the GNS 430/530 for what it was intended for. This package includes 4 hours of ground training with a Certified Flight Instructor and 3 hours in the Redbird FMX full motion simulator.
